Video-on-Demand: Teaching Social Boundaries To Adolescents With Autism
NLG clinician Liz Martineau discusses the successful teaching of social boundaries to adolescents with autism using a treatment package consisting of teaching a rule/key word, categorizing actions as “okay” or not “okay”, teaching alternatives to the not “okay” actions, repeated practice of appropriate actions, and tying the actions to reinforcement/response cost in the presence of the rule. Several case studies are presented and appropriateness of the treatment package relative to functions of behavior is discussed.
